Individual Therapy:
Psychotherapy aims to improve an individual's well being and mental health to resolve or mitigate troublesome behaviors, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions, and to improve relationships and social skills. Dawn has experience with children, teens, women and couples with depression, anxiety, autism, developmental disabilities, parenting, and regular life and family issues.
Family/Couples Therapy:
Family therapy, also referred to as couple and family therapy, marriage therapy, family systems therapy, and family counseling, is a branch of psychotherapy that works with families and couples in intimate relationships to nurture change and development. It tends to view change in terms of the systems of interaction between family members. It emphasizes family relationships as an important factor in psychological health.
Child/Teen Therapy:
Child or adolescent therapy is a great place for ids to express their experiences and feelings in a safe environment. Therapy can address the thoughts, feelings and emotions experienced and issues that arise as a direct result of events in a child's life. Some events that may impact a child's mental health include parental divorce or separation, birth of a sibling, death of a loved one, abuse, poverty, homelessness, natural disaster, domestic violence, moving, being bullied and taking on more responsibility then is age appropriate that significantly impact them at home, school or in their social group.
EMDR Therapy:
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy is a treatment that was designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. It is now widely used for many types of mental health disorders. After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, effective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and
physiological arousal is reduced. Distress is reduced and positive beliefs are installed.
Mindfulness:
Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you carefully observe your thoughts and feelings without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness
means living in the moment and awakening to your current experience, rather than dwelling on the past or
anticipating the future. Used together with directed relaxation imagery can be quite beneficial in reducing anxiety and stress.
Psychoeducation/Training:
Education and training that provides information and support to better understand and cope with stress, anxiety and illness in many settings. Dawn has experience working with agencies developing and
providing training to workforce managers, employees employers and groups.
Teletherapy:
Telecommunications technology (internet, video) to deliver professional services at a distance by linking clinician to client, or clinician to clinician, for assessment, intervention, and/or consultation.
Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS):
Adult rehabilitative mental health services (ARMHS) means mental health services which are rehabilitative and enable the recipient to develop and enhance psychiatric stability, social competencies, personal and emotional adjustment, and independent living and community skills, when these abilities are impaired by the symptoms of mental illness.The services instruct, assist,and support a recipient in areas such as medication education and monitoring, and basic social and living skills in mental illness symptom management, household management, employment-related, or transitioning to community living.
